How I Changed My Life

I’ve changed. Last year around this time I was feeling unhappy. I work a full-time job and I was getting home from work and laying on my couch watching hours of TV until it was time for bed. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE me some Real Housewives, but what I did not love was feeling like I was laying around wasting my life. I knew I had to do something so I consciously made changes to my life to improve it. I decided that I wanted to start living my best life.

I didn’t change my life on my own either, I asked friends and family for advice and support and their help has been crucial as well. They help hold me accountable and cheer me on when they see me succeeding which is amazing.

Another thing that helps give me motivation, ideas, and strategies to improve my life are videos I find on YouTube. I follow some amazing women who give great tips on living a more healthy, happy, and organized life. I loved this video by one of my faves Brittany Vasseur:

Here’s a few of the changes I made in case you need some inspo: Continue reading How I Changed My Life

Tinsley Mortimer Beauty Secrets

Tinsley Mortimer is the newest blonde on the Real Housewives of New York City. The socialite and NYC staple must have some kind of Benjamin Button disease because despite being born 8/11/75 (she’s about to be 42!) she somehow still looks like she’s in her 20s. Tinsley has a classic, clean, chic, preppy style and is definitely not into change. One reason the Tinsley Mortimer always looks on point- she used to be a beauty editor at Vogue (source)!

“My Southern mother taught me to never be ashamed to wear a full face of makeup at all times. She started putting lip gloss on me in fourth grade. So it’s just sort of built in.” (source)

Audible Book Recommendations 2016

I’m a HUGE audiobook fan I’m pretty sure I’d go insane driving in LA traffic if I didn’t have audiobooks and podcasts to listen to. I’ve been an Audible member since 7/8/2011! I pay about $15 a month and get 1 credit for a free audiobook monthly. The Audible app is great and super easy to use as well and keeps your bookmark in the place you left off even if you switch between devices. My favorite part about the Audible app is being able to adjust the speed of the speaker which I usually put at 1.25x. You can sign-up for Audible and get a 30 day free trial with 2 free audiobooks:

As you’re about to see, I read almost exclusively non-fiction and love biographies, science, and self-help type books. Here’s some recent books I’ve been enjoying from Audible: Continue reading Audible Book Recommendations 2016

Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes

Welcome to the first ever Blushing in Hollywood Book Club post! Today I finished Shonda Rhimes’ Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun, and Be Your Own Person and I really enjoyed it a lot. If you didn’t already know, Shonda Rhimes is the incredibly talented creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away with Murder. She is a serious boss lady that pretty much runs things on TV right now. She’s so much more than that though because she’s really changed the face of television to make it look more like how the world actually looks (instead of adding diversity she likes to refer to it as normalizing) and for her efforts she’s won a GLAAD award, several NAACP Image awards, and a Peabody Award. She’s a pretty impressive person.

Traveling in Style

Bonjour! Just practicing my French because I’m headed to Paris for the first time ever in a week and a half!! While preparing for my trip I had to take a look at this book I have to see if it had any European travel tips. The book is Classy by Derek Blasberg and in it I learned a few VERY good tips that I still use this day:

  1. Pashmina Pillow

Airplane blankets are great for your lap, but who wants that near their face!? Bring a pashmina it can help keep you warm or be rolled up into a ball and used as a pillow. I have this cashmere one (here’s one that’s half the price) from Nordstrom in black and take it on all my trips.

  2. Undergarment Bag

Derek shares a nightmare-like situation that happened to him while returning from traveling in the book that involved his suitcase breaking and all of his underwear coming out one by one on the conveyer belt one by one at baggage claim. Continue reading Traveling in Style
