Back in May I won tickets to a really amazing event called Unique LA and had the best time ever! I highly HIGHLY recommend checking this out and definitely bring your wallet because you are going to want to buy ALL THE THINGS! Like I was shook at how much amazing local stuff there was. I also went by myself and stayed all day and had an absolute blast!
“Your dollars make a direct impact in your neighborhood! The entrepreneurs you shop from at Unique LA are registered business owners in their cities, and therefore local taxpayers, so buying from them directly helps your neighborhood public schools, libraries, fire departments, parks, and more. How great is that?!”
Tinsley Mortimer is the newest blonde on the Real Housewives of New York City. The socialite and NYC staple must have some kind of Benjamin Button disease because despite being born 8/11/75 (she’s about to be 42!) she somehow still looks like she’s in her 20s. Tinsley has a classic, clean, chic, preppy style and is definitely not into change. One reason the Tinsley Mortimer always looks on point- she used to be a beauty editor at Vogue (source)!
“My Southern mother taught me to never be ashamed to wear a full face of makeup at all times. She started putting lip gloss on me in fourth grade. So it’s just sort of built in.” (source)
I was ecstatic when I heard that Queen Erika Jayne aka Erika Girardi was going to be on one of my favorite shows Dancing With the Stars. I knew she was really going to bring it with the hair, makeup, costumes, and over the top performances. Then they pair her up with Gleb Savchenko aka my boyfriend in my head!? YAS! Erika is a such a laser-focused fierce goal-oriented person I also knew that she would bring it in the competition. I went to San Francisco for a conference and a long weekend a few weeks ago and I forgot how much I love that city! The food, the shopping, the parks, the homes, the history, it’s amazing! I wanted to give you a run down of some of my recommendations.
Always dress in layers. San Francisco is always colder than people think it will be.
It’s so humid say goodbye to having any good hair days here.
Soo my childhood dreams came true and my vision is finally at the point where I need reading glasses! I seriously faked an eye exam when I was 10 years old because I wanted glasses so badly. I managed to fake one worse than the other and they told me I needed to wear a patch. I said no thank you I don’t need a pirate patch I’ll just take the glasses, thanks! My mom told me she knew I didn’t need the glasses and that I was lying, but she got me a pair anyway because I was so committed to my lie. I wore them for one day (the first day of 5th grade), got a terrible headache, and never wore them again. My prescription is +0.75 in both eyes which is so weak they don’t even sell them at most drug stores. I originally thought I was just getting makeup and/or oil cleansers in my eyes and that was what was making my vision blurry.. so if you’re like me and thinking this is the problem definitely get your vision checked out because you may need an adorable new accessory oops I mean prescriptive eyewear like me! I have been so bored with my hair lately! When I straighten it it’s flat and lifeless, curling it looks the same every time, and don’t even get me started about how terrible it looks when I try to embrace my natural once-curly-now-not-curly-enough-to-wear-curly texture. That’s why I was so glad to find this super easy hair tutorial that just gives your hair a “bend” or a very soft waves which is similar to how the Kardashians have been wearing their hair. It’s simple, fast, and will make your hair way less boring immediately. I’ve also gotten a lot of compliments every time I’ve worn my hair with soft waves like this so I definitely recommend it.
I’m absolutely not an expert (far far from it), but I planned my trip to Mount Hood, Oregon a few months in advance so I had plenty of time to ask everyone I knew about what clothes I needed to stay warm and comfortable while skiing. If you’ve never skied before, you’re going to need to buy or borrow the following: Continue reading “What Clothes You Need for Skiing”
Bonjour! Just practicing my French because I’m headed to Paris for the first time ever in a week and a half!! While preparing for my trip I had to take a look at this book I have to see if it had any European travel tips. The book is Classy by Derek Blasberg and in it I learned a few VERY good tips that I still use this day:
Airplane blankets are great for your lap, but who wants that near their face!? Bring a pashmina it can help keep you warm or be rolled up into a ball and used as a pillow. I have this cashmere one (here’s one that’s half the price) from Nordstrom in black and take it on all my trips.
Derek shares a nightmare-like situation that happened to him while returning from traveling in the book that involved his suitcase breaking and all of his underwear coming out one by one on the conveyer belt one by one at baggage claim. Continue reading “Traveling in Style”
