It’s Skin Cancer Awareness Month and I’ve had lots of questions about what sunscreens I recommend. I know there’s lots of confusion about sunscreen, but one simple thing to remember is the best sunscreen for you is the one you’ll actually wear! That takes some trial and error. Here’s some of my favorites:

Face Sunscreen
Tinted Sunscreen
I love this one because it has some orange undertones which helps cancel out my blue under eye circles and discolorations in my skin so I don’t have to wear more foundation. This is mineral and a higher SPF which means it’s thicker, but I don’t find it heavy and don’t feel it on my face. I’ve repurchased it several times and travel with it. It’s also more affordable which I love! I’ve repurchased it several times.

Invisible Sunscreen
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40
This is weightless, colorless, and oil free. It feels like a makeup primer because it has dimethicone in it which fills in pores and smooths the skin. I’ve gotten a few samples of this and have really enjoyed it. It feels really silky and light. I also apply this one on my chest because it doesn’t get on my clothes and slightly blurs my imperfections.
Makeup Primer Sunscreen
Milani Prime Protect SPF 30 Face Primer
This is a nice light formula that works well with makeup. It’s a nice extra layer of SPF. This one can be a little shiny especially if you have oily skin like I do so I don’t wear it alone, but under a matte foundation and/or some powder it’s great!
CC Cream Sunscreen
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Oil-Free Matte SPF 40
SPF in your foundation (or CC cream) alone really isn’t enough, but as an additional layer of sun protection I love the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. I like both the Matte (SPF 40) and the regular formula (SPF 50). These are full coverage! Again it’s great because it doesn’t feel heavy on the face. It’s a great everyday foundation.
Powder Sunscreen for Reapplying
DERMA-E Sun Protection Mineral Powder SPF 30
I recently tried the DERMA-E Sun Protection Mineral Powder SPF 30 and I’ve been carrying it in my purse since I bought it! I apply this to my face, neck, chest, arms, and hands. I apply it at work before going out for lunch or before driving home. On the weekend I apply it if I’ve been outside for more than 2 hours. It takes a lot of sunscreen to get adequate protection so I swirl this around quite a bit. It can sometimes emphasize get into fine lines and wrinkles and emphasize them a bit, but it’s worth it to me. This is also one of the more affordable powder sunscreens.
SPF Lip Balm
Supergoop! SPF 30 Mint Condition Lip Shield
I love the Supergoop line and this was only $5 so I figured I’d give it a try. I really like this one!
Body Sunscreen
Neutrogena Beach Defense Body Spray Sunscreen SPF 70
I got a giant bottle of this at a Marshall’s and ended up loving it. I spray my neck, chest, shoulders, arms, hands, (and legs on the rare occasion I’m not in pants) and sometimes my part with it. It dries SUPER quickly and is not sticky. It doesn’t get on my clothes either. If you need to get better about wearing SPF on your chest and arms try this one out! I much prefer it to white lotions which I always get on my clothes.
While working on this post I saw that Supergoop! Has an antioxidant-infused sunscreen mist with Vitamin C SPF 50 that’s only $19 so that might be the next one I try! Vitamin C is great for giving an extra boost to sunscreen and helps with anti-aging.
