Park Guell in Barcelona Spain

Today I wanted to talk about another one of my favorite things I saw and did in Barcelona- Park Güell!

Park Guell in Barcelona, Spain

We took the bus up to Park Guell then we walked up a very big hill to the entrance. Park Guell, like Casa Batllo, La Pedrada, and La Sagardra Familia, is another work by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. It was supposed to be a housing development with high quality modern homes, art, and a sense of community. It didn’t quite take off, though, so today it’s a park with the Gaudi House Museum on the grounds as well. So when you get to the park you can buy tickets at this part of it to the monumental zone, or if you keep walking you can enter the park itself for free at a different location which is what we did.

It definitely gives me Disney vibes and sort of reminds me of a gingerbread house.

This house is on the grounds of the park and Antoni Gaudi lived here for 20 years.

There’s plenty to see for free within the park itself it’s really beautiful. Giving me Fraggle Rock vibes right here.

We hiked up to the top which was not easy and made me wish I was wearing workout clothes instead of trying to look cute while sightseeing and we got a surprise at the top- this place has an awesome view of the whole city! I almost said “eh let’s skip the park”, but I’m SO glad I didn’t because it was really awesome. It was kind of like getting to the top of Runyon Canyon in LA.

When we were up at the top checking out the view there was a group of young girls taking selfies on the edge, then one of them was having another girl take her photo and she jumped off the edge of the mountain! We were like WTF AHHH! But then she landed about a foot down I guess there was a little ledge, it was just horrifying to watch at a distance. We sat down and people watched for a bit and the girls kept taking the jumping pictures and it was fun watching new people come up and see them for the first time like and their faces looked like :O !!! Park Guell in Barcelona, Spain

Ok so the “Cash Flows Hoes” one was not actually in the park, but I liked that one so I threw it in there. The top one says “Art is Free Boycott Privitisation of Parks” one thing that surprised me about Barcelona (besides them driving on the same side of the road as us) was how political it was.

Here’s Molly looking cute at the top of Park Guell. There are no photos of me from this day because my hair was no match for Barcelona’s humidity.

Here’s another view from the top of Park Guell this is of Montjuïc which I would definitely spend more time at if I visit Barcelona again.

View of La Sagadra Familia from Park Guell. You can see the cranes because it is still under contruction.

This gate at Park Güell is very Tim Burton-esque.

Villa Carmen outside of Park Guell

I thought this house right outside of Park Güell and it’s street entrance were super cool.

There’s a huge church that’s up the hill near Park Guell that we creeped into after the park. There was an actual nun walking around, but I figured she probably would not appreciate having her picture taken without permission.

A sculpture at the church. I’m not sure if that’s a safe place for a child… now hold tight kids because Paris is just around the corner! In the mean time be sure to check out part 1 of Barcelona, La Sagadra Familia, Sitges, and getting to Sitges so you’re all caught up!
