What I Wore to the On the Run Tour / BEYONCE Concert

Here’s some tips for a glam, but comfortable look to wear to a concert.

If you know me, then you know that I am head over heels in love with my queen Bey, Mrs. Beyonce Knowles-Carter. Last weekend I had the absolute privilege of seeing her live in concert and it was everything I dreamed it was going to be and so much more. Although there are only a few dates left, I thought I’d post about what I wore and my tips since they can be generalized to other tours such as the beautiful Rihanna who is coming to LA this weekend. I also want to post this because let’s get real, I googled this very question before the concert.

The pressure I felt to look amazing and up to Beyonce standards for the concert can only be compared to disarming a bomb with a gun pointed to my head. This is why I procrastinated until the last minute. Like every event in my life, I spent 2+ hours on my makeup, and 20 minutes each on my hair and outfit.

OK here’s a lovely mirror selfie where I’m showing off my Old Navy flannel that I’ve had forever, $10 Forever 21 jorts, and some giant cheap forever 21 gold hoops and a big gold chain that I got from some boutique in the Hollywood and Highland Center. they’re cut off, but this is Tip #1 WEAR FLATS. I’m wearing flat black boots that I also wore alllllll day long at Coachella. I was standing and screaming the entire time, and also had multiple hours of standing trying to just get in and out of the concert. I know you want to wear heels and your outfits only look good in heels and Beyonce probably sleeps in heels, but just trust me on this one it’s not worth it. Tip #2 is Wear something you have! Those tickets were expensive girl! My outfit inspiration came from Beyonce’s “***Flawless” music video:

I personally could not commit to 8+ hours of a bold lip (seriously how do you girls do it???), but I did want to bring it in the makeup department so here’s what I did:

When I do a bold eye look I start with my eyes (before foundation) because I’m not good at being clean and careful. For eyes I did a cranberry smokey eye look to make my hazel eyes pop. I used MAC Fluidline gel eyeliner in Black Track to line my water line which I extended in the inner corners for added drama. I’m also wearing Red Cherry Lashes ($2.50! here) and some ELF half strip lashes in the outer corners. My brows were filled in with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and I have now switched from “Ash Blonde” to “Taupe” thanks to KP (pictured below) and a very helpful sales associate at Sephora. I’m loving the taupe I think it’s WAY better and less yellow.

For my skin I used my most expensive foundation (Giorgio Armani Luminous Skin) because it doesn’t have sunscreen in it so it photographs better at night and my cheapest concealer (Hard Candy Glamoflauge find it online here for $6). I did a very heavy contour and put on a lot of bronzer (yes this is me after a lot of bronzer haha). I topped it off with a pretty nude pink lip- MAC’s Angel lipstick. Using a nude lip instead of a bold red meant I didn’t have to worry about it wiping off or smearing it or having to reapply it every 20 minutes. As you can see, under my flannel I kept it Beyonce sexy with a lace body suit NSFW! But on sale here for $19! Layering was a great idea because even though we are in a severe drought here in LA, that night of all nights it decided to rain so I used my flannel to shield my head. It was also nice to layer because it was hot at the concert and cold afterwards.

For my hair- My hair was so dirty I started off with practically a bottle of Batiste dry shampoo (which is why my hair is so blonde) and only afterwards realized my Batiste dry shampoo with gold glitter in it would have been a much more Beyonce choice! At first I thought I’d wrap my hair around my curling iron like it was a curling wand. Then I realized I don’t have a heat proof glove and I’m way too clumsy for that so I just curled it starting about halfway down and curling away from my face. After it was done I fluffed it up by backcombing the ends with a wide-tooth comb and putting my head upside down and spraying plenty of hair spray in it.

Overall the concert was everything I dreamed it was going to be and so much more.
