On the last post I talked about the rainbow highlighter that was all over social media which has all the colors of the rainbow in one pan to make you sparkle like a beautiful unicorn fairy rainbow princess. Today I want to talk about highlighters that have been coming out in non-traditional colors.
Jeffree Star Skin Frost Highlighters
I talked about Jeffree Star who you might remember from MySpace on my previous liquid lipsticks post, but since then he has started his own YouTube channel which is SO ENTERTAINING I watch A LOT of YouTube and I HIGHLY recommend checking out his videos he is hilarious. Anyways, he recently came out with 4 highlighters which sold out very quickly. They come in King Tut (gold) and Ice Cold (white highlight that’s light enough for extremely fair skin) which are typical highlight colors, but since it’s Jeffree Star they are extremely pigmented and you’ll be able to be seen from space.
He also came out with Peach Goddess which is a peachy shade which is a little different, and then the most unique shade Mint Condition which is a mint blue color, so fun!
These were released on May 25, 2016 and are currently sold out, but Jeffree always tries to get products back in stock ASAP. Here’s some swatches from one of my favorite Instagrammers @trendmood1:
Also note that these pans of skin frost highlighter from Jeffree Star are much bigger than your typical powder compact so you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. They are also vegan, cruelty-free, talc free, paraben and gluten free and can be used on the face, eyes, and body!
Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish 003 ($72)
Pat McGrath is a super amazing makeup artist who has created a highlighter, balm, and pigment set to take your highlighter to the next level. This set is $72 because it includes a Shiny Stick highlighter + balm duo, a pigment, and a buffer brush for applying. You can use the balm alone for a fresh glow, apply the highlighter then the balm for a radiant look, buff the pigment over the Shiny Stick duo for an intense gleam, or add it to the face and body, eyelids, lips, brow bones, inner corner of the eyes, décolletage, etc. This set comes in two colors Nude and Golden. First of all, the outside packaging of the set is incredible. Here’s what Golden looks like:
You can see in this pic that the nude pigment actually has some cool pink/purple/blue undertones:
Here’s some swatches from Ommorphia Beauty Bar and you can read her review here:
Chaos Color Shifting Cream ($15)
If you want to wear all of the colors together check out Chaos Color Shifting Cream in Cosmic Light which can show up lime green/aqua/pink/red/white depending on the angle and the light.
This cream is multi-use, safe for eyes and lips, cruelty free, talc free, all natural, and hand crafted!
Chaos also carries glitter free highlighters in a rainbow of colors including violet, red, orange, green, and blue. These highlighters come in duo sets with white primers for $30 each. I think the orange color Jakku or the red color Kylo would look awesome on deeper skin tones:
These highlighters remade with 100% pigment for a smoother more dewy application than their other highlighters.
Hello Waffle Cosmetics Liquid Highlighter ($9.15)
This indie brand has a more subtle, but still unique and gorgeous lavender cream highlight that they describe as a “Creamy white with lavender sheen. Ethereal.”
This shop is actually having a clearance sale starting June 1st at 9am for 48 hours only because they are closing until October 2016! Use the code “BYEBYE” to get 40% off! There’s also an adorably funny “Leonardo Dicatrio” which includes the shades “Like One of Your French Kitties”, “Gangs of Mew York”, and “Cat Me If You Can” which is another lavender with a golden sheen. These are not lip safe, but are vegan and eye safe.
Artist Couture Glow Powder ($27)
Angel Merino is another famous makeup artist who has come out with a popular line of highlighters including the Artist Couture Glow Powder in Mermaid Fantasy. Since we’re all trying to be mermaids these days I knew I needed a mermaid highlighter and this one fits the bill with its turquoise/lime iridescence.
This one is a loose powder that can be used on the face, eyes, lips, and body. Angel’s collection also includes Diamond Glow Powder in Supernova which is a light opalescent pink and lavender duo-chrome.
They look gorgeous on darker skin too:
I hope you all feel inspired to be bold and try something new and different and shine bright like the little unique rainbow crystal prism diamonds you are.
