New Sephora Products I’ve Been Loving
First Aid Beauty FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum 0.25% Pure Concentrate ($58) – If you want to add 1 skin care product (that’s not an SPF or cleanser) to your routine you HAVE to add retinol! It helps with acne, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, uneven skin tone, loss of elasticity etc. Retin-A is available as a prescription and my dermatologist has been trying to get me on it for forever. The problem is that prescription strength Retin-A can make you peel… for WEEKS. It is an extremely annoying process you have to endure in order to see the benefits (which will take months to truly see) and your makeup looks like absolute garbage during the transition time. When I read about the First Aid Beauty FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum and about how it is formulated to be extra gentle for sensitive skin I HAD to try it. I’ve eased in per their recommendations using it every other night and topping with a great moisturizer (the Belif Moisture
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow ($18) – This shimmering rose nude color was designed to be universal and it is gorgeous! The formula is amazing too! So many people I know have been loving this gloss.
Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation ($20) – The absolute best powder foundation I have used in a LONG TIME! Makes you look airbrushed!
HUDA Beauty Lip Contour Set in Trendsetter ($25) – This contains a lip liner and 2 liquid lipsticks. A pro makeup artist used this on me and she told me she uses it on everyone because it’s SUPER flattering.
Go-To Products I Re-Purchase
Belif The True Cream Moisture Bomb ($62) – My go to night (and day if I’m traveling and my skin is parched) cream. EXCELLENT moisturizer that sinks into the skin.
Elizabeth & James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo ($28) – My “special occasion” dry shampoo lol. I use Batiste dry shampoo daily, but when I want my hair to smell amazing I use some of this. Warning: it does have a white cast so I do not recommend this for darker hair!!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($64) – I first splurged on this during a VIB spring sale a few years ago and the hype is REAL! After you apply this don’t be quick to judge.. for some reason it takes a few minutes to “settle” and then your skin will be looking amazing.
IT Cosmetics CC Cream ($15) – My go-to daytime foundation! CC Cream has skin care ingredients AND SPF 50 and great coverage!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ($20) – This heavy duty lip balm goes on my lips every single night before I go to bed. Must have!
New Items I Want to Try
HUDA Beauty Faux Filter Foundation ($40) – I’ve tried a sample of this foundation and found the coverage and the finish to be so amazing! The problem is that a lot of times the shades I want are out of stock when I go to purchase. A must try if you like full coverage.
New Items I’ve Tried That I’m Not Crazy About
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34) – I’m super oily, but this clings so much to any dry patches you have!
Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation ($40) – I find this foundation is so hard to blend!

The 10th season of Real Housewives of New York City began last Wednesday and the ladies were coming in HOT! They somehow all have Benjamin Button disease and are aging in reverse! It’s truly incredible! In case you missed them, here are my posts on the beauty secrets of the Real Housewives of New York City:

I’m so excited to share that I’m a guest on the most recent episode of the Adderall and Compliments Podcast! The host Annabelle DeSisto and I have been BFFs for 10 years now! She is actually the reason that I live in Los Angeles.
On the podcast we get into how we met, rumors I heard about Annabelle in high school, insane dating stories, why Annabelle inspires me so much, the Adderall and Compliments live show in New York, how to complain less (see below for some quick tips) and MUCH MORE!
8 years ago today Annabelle and I had lunch in #NYC with Paul Rudd who is exactly what you’d hope he’d be like irl! I would share my grilled cheese with him any day. I’m finally going back to #NewYork in 2 weeks with @annabelledesisto @meagangrainger @tashareignslife @msjessicajay @jaclynmarfuggi @jmscomedy @nancydesisto for the #AdderallAndCompliments live show Saturday 4/14 at 12pm at @slipperroomnyc 🤗🤗 What should I do in #newyork ? Tea at the @theplazahotel ? Drinks at @nobunewyork ? Dinner at the polo bar? Where should I get 🍕?? . . . . . . #paulrudd #annabelledesisto #nycpizza #instanyc #instany #instanyclove #nobu #tbt #iloveyouman #satc #theplazahotel #slipperroomnyc #slipperroom #podcast #rhony #noeyebrows #2010
Also since we forgot to get into it- Annabelle’s mom Fancy Nancy gave me the nickname “Kinsey Lockburn”. She is writing a book called “Ready, And” and decided to name a character after me and hence, Kinsey Lockburn was born.
Some of the blog posts we talked about on the podcast:
Annabelle even announces in this podcast episode that she will be attending the Real Housewives of New York premier in NYC next week! So exciting!
Tips for Complaining Less:
We usually complain when something is making us uncomfortable. It feels like steam is building up inside of us and we have to let it out, but instead we can use the steam to push us or motivate us to do something about it.
How can we complain less?
- Acknowledge it. Pay attention and be mindful to what you are saying and notice when you are complaining.
- When you notice you are complaining start talking about solutions instead.
- Once you’re done discussing solutions, pivot to talking about what you’re grateful for.
- Avoid negative complaining people, it’s contagious. Being around complainers releases a stress hormone in your brain and makes you age more quickly!
How to Start a Blog or Website
I also wanted to share that I just created a page with some FAQ about starting a blog and/or website. I get lots of questions about how to do this and I think anyone who is thinking about should go for it!!
Season 8 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiers tomorrow Tuesday December 19, 2017 at 9/8c on Bravo. In celebration of the upcoming season I wanted to do a round up of all of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills blog posts I’ve done before.
This season of RHOBH features Lisa Vanderpump, Erika Girardi aka Erika Jayne, and Kyle Richards all of which I have written about, plus Dorit Kemsley is returning. Camille Grammer will be returning full-time as a friend-of the housewives and Adrienne Maloof will return as a guest star.
The newest RHOBH will be Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is a 38 year old wellness accountability coach for her company LA Workout Junkie. She is singer John Mellencamp’s (“Jack & Diane”, “Hurts So Good”) daughter. John Mellencamp has 5 children from his 3 marriages and Teddi Jo and her sister Justice are from his second marriage to Victoria Granucci.
Teddi is also stunning! Continue reading Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is Back!
Good news, The League posted some data on their blog that I had just been searching for! The League is an “elite” dating app and is basically Tinder for the college educated 30+ crowd with decent pictures and a somewhat witty “About Me.”
After working on my post Is Cuffing Season a Good Time to Meet Someone? I had wondered when the dating apps really peak. I know that dating apps get the most singles logging in and using the app in the first week of January, but I feel like the magic begins before that when everyone is at their parent’s house bored and tired of being single. Here’s what The League’s data has to say:
And since their infographic is tiny, here is the rundown:
- Best days to log in and swipe: Dec 11-13
- Best days to send a message: Dec 22-24
- Best days to exchange phone numbers: Dec 28-30
- Best days to go on a date: Jan 4-6
Don’t worry if you missed peak “log in and swipe” time. Sunday nights are when dating apps are the most active so you should be getting matches even if you begin swiping this week. Want to break the ice, but don’t know what to say? Check out my What to Message a Guy on Bumble post (the openers work for messaging any gender!). If The League isn’t available in your city or you just want to try a different app check out these posts: Free Dating Apps, Dating Apps to Try in 2017.
When have you had the most luck on dating apps? Do you find it easier during a certain time of year? I sometimes like to swipe through people when I’m at home in Florida just to see what’s available. Typically it’s a lot of guys holding dead fish or one time there was a guy wrestling an alligator #FloridaMan.
Joana Teixeira was sweet enough to write another guest post for us today! For better or for worse, I actually highlight my hair at home (are you gasping? lol). I was inspired by hair legend Jessie James Decker and talked about it in my Jessie James Decker Ombre Blonde Highlights at Home. Highlights = bleach though, which = damage so I asked Joana to help us with the after care to mitigate that damage and here’s what she said (with my comments in italics):
It’s an exciting step to bleach your hair, but keeping it looking (and feeling) great afterwards takes a little work. Bleaching your hair is something that needs careful thought, expert application and a solid aftercare plan. From maintaining color, shine and moisture to lessening the risk of damage, these top 10 tips will help you look after your bleached locks.
- Wash your hair less frequently
Bleaching strips your hair of its natural oils and has a drying effect, so the last thing your hair needs afterwards is a lot of shampooing. That’ll just add to the dryness. Wash every three to four days and use a dry shampoo in between if need be. I’ve been using the Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and my favorite dry shampoo is Batiste. If I’ve worked out and need to shampoo more than every few days I use my Drybar Double Standard cleansing and conditioning foam which I wrote about in this post. If you need updo ideas this How To Get a Messy Ponytail post is such an OG Blushing in Hollywood post, but honestly one of my favorites of all time!!
- Increase the conditioning
Your hair will be more brittle, so leaving conditioner in after showering can help, especially when it comes to combing and maintaining shine. This is a top tip if you want to know how to get shiny hair and keep it that way after bleaching your locks. My ride or die leave-in product is It’s a 10! Miracle Leave-In Product.
- Time for a change of towel
Microfiber towels are gentle on your hair and ideal after bleaching. They’re super absorbent and help dry the hair without making it frizzy. I’ve been using the Aquis Hair Towel ever since I learned about this tip!
- Pat don’t rub
It’s not just the towel you’re using but the way you’re using it that counts. Pat your hair dry rather than rubbing. It’s a gentler way of doing things and will certainly lessen the risk of damage.
- Avoid excessive heat
Straighteners, tongs and hair dryers can cause hair to dry out, and when it’s bleached that can lead to damage. Too much heat can dull the color and shine too. Speaking of shine, if you want to know how to get shiny hair step by step just follow that guide.
- Have regular trims
Bleached hair is more susceptible to split ends so regular trims will help keep it healthy. I get my hair cut by the lovely Emma Parkes at Goodform Salon in West Hollywood. She’s an absolute magician at color too.
- Weekly deep condition
Using a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask once every week or two weeks will help your hair maintain moisture.
- Use hair oil
A quality hair oil is vital when it comes to looking after your new look. They can be pricey but you only need a few drops to keep your hair healthy so it’s well worth the investment. My fave is Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil.
- Protect from UV rays
Just like heat styling products, UV rays from the sun can cause damage. When you’re out and about make sure your hair is shaded and look for hair care products that contain sun-blocking properties. I love a good baseball hat to protect my hair and skin from the sun!
- Touch up roots
Your chosen color will start to change over time due to heat that’s emitted from the scalp, and the hair that’s closest to the scalp will dull quickest. Therefore it’s a good plan to touch up your roots regularly, but there’s no need to re-bleach everything as that could cause more damage.
So there you have it, 10 ways to look after your hair after bleaching. We’ve looked at how best to wash your hair, how to care for it and how to get shiny hair. Follow these tips and you’ll love your new color for longer.

Tis the season… to get into a relationship? Cuffing season is here where single people (hand)”cuff” themselves to a partner so they don’t have to brave the winter (and holiday gatherings) all alone.
What is Cuffing Season?
“Cuffing Season” is the time of year beginning mid-Septemberish when summer has come to an end and single people start looking for relationships. Cuffing season happens because it’s dark and cold and single people don’t want to be the only one without a partner for Thanksgiving/Hanukkah/Christmas/New Years. People who normally are comfortable casually dating more than one person at a time are too tired and cold to put in the effort. They want to find a partner they can stay cozy and warm together inside. They also don’t want to have the annual conversation with their parents about why they aren’t married yet.
When is Cuffing Season?
Cuffing season begins during the fall and really heats up near Halloween. Starting to date at Halloween is the perfect amount of time to be dating for it to not be awkward to spend the holidays together. Halloween also coincides with daylight savings time which is another incentive to cuff. Plus for girls who were dieting for Halloween this may be their peak body time and they’d really like to put on a sweater, get a boyfriend, and start eating again.
Is Cuffing Season a good time to meet someone?
Last year when I went home for the holidays I had so many friends and family members say “Wow you look GREAT!” Want to know my secret? I got Botox a week before going home for Christmas so it was in full effect! My forehead looked smooth, I looked more relaxed and youthful, and it looked really natural and not frozen. I also had less issues with my makeup getting caked in my wrinkles (the worst). I loved the effects SO much, but then it lasted about 2 months for me and it by 3 months it was completely gone! I was so sad because that stuff is expensive. Recently I’ve been hearing more about Dysport and some people have been saying it lasts longer than Botox. I was curious if that was true and John Stuart was nice enough to write up a guest post all about Botox vs. Dysport.
💉BOTOX TALK!💉 ▶️🎥 to see it in action! A week before Christmas got Botox for the first time in my forehead, between my brows and a little near the outer corners of my eyes (30 units total) at @alchemy43 and OMG I loved it so much! I got it a week before Christmas and when I was in Florida for the holidays people kept saying how good I looked and I swear Botox is why because I just looked so much more fresh! 🤕Does it hurt? No it’s the tiniest little prick and it was all over in maybe 3 minutes? I did have a headache afterwards last time, but I was also dehydrated, starving and got stuck in traffic and I will definitely avoid all of that next time. Like I say in the video if you’ve ever had a facial with extractions (which I had 3 days post and is why my face is a little blotchy) they are like 100x more painful than the needle. 💸How much does it cost? I paid $9/unit for mine so it was $270 total. They asked me if I wanted my forehead to have movement still or be totally frozen and I said idk? But if you asked me today I’d say I’d be happy if my forehead never ever moved again. ⏳How long does it last? It’s different for everyone it depends on how your body absorbs it. For me my forehead was almost back to normal movement in 2 months and totally 100% back by 3. I was like 😭😭😭 because I loved it so much! It kind of made sense though because I’m never super sensitive to medications like some people are. It can last 6 months or more on other people so you never know! 👱♀️👩👵When should you get it done? I got it for the first time when I was 30, but definitely could have gotten it sooner. I have so much sun damage from tanning that really messed me up which is why I have such deep lines on my forehead. There is not lotion, potion, or cream that can make deep wrinkles go away (I asked my dermatologist) so if you are wrinkly like myself this is your most effective treatment by far. 🎊🎉Big event coming up and thinking about Botox? Like I say in my video you will see optimal results in 3-7 days (mine were seen at 7 days for sure) so get it at least a week before the event, but I’d probably do 2 weeks before just in case any adjustments need to be made.
Most of us are familiar with Botox, the quick injection that irons out fine lines, crows feet and frown lines. It has been on the market for more than two decades and its reputation precedes it. It’s safe, fast, and efficient, a favorite among celebrities and non-celebrities alike.
However, few of us know anything about its rival, Dysport, that has been around for almost 9 years, predominantly on the European market. Dysport, also formerly known as Reloxin, is also an injectable solution that smooths out wrinkles through a process similar to Botox shots. The Botox vs Dysport battle will go over the similarities and dissimilarities of the two, highlighting the advantages of choosing one over the other.
Similarities of Botox and Dysport
- Relax muscle tissue;
- Both are Botulinum Toxin A;
- Prevent muscles from contracting;
- Temporary results;
- Results last between 3-6 months.
Differences between Botox and Dysport
- Dysport is cheaper than Botox;
- Dysport is more diluted (but not less efficient) than Botox;
- Dysport comprises smaller molecules than Botox;
- Dysport kicks in faster (2-5 days) than Botox (4-7 days);
- Botox is more precise than Dysport.
Dysport and Botox are very similar. Both comprise Botulinum type A which relaxes the muscles responsible for crows feet, frown lines and other types of wrinkles. There are more than 3 million Botox procedure being performed yearly in the US. The FDA-approved neurotoxins found both in Dysport and Botox offer temporary results.
Why Do We Get Wrinkles?
Because of repetitive muscle contractions caused by everyday expressions and normal facial gestures, wrinkles and fine lines generally start developing after the age of 30, when the production of collagen in the body decreases significantly.
Certain facial expressions or habits will create certain types of lines on the face. For instance, the wrinkles around the eyes are called “crows feet” and are created by smiling and squinting. Frowning creates a line between the eyebrows, while smoking or frequently drinking through a straw results in fine lines around the corners of the mouth. In the same vein, raising the eyebrows causes forehead lines.
How Do Botox and Dysport Work?
Botox and Dysport do not permanently “erase” or “cure” wrinkles and fine lines. They offer temporary solutions by preventing the muscles from contracting and helping the tissue relax. A Botox or Dysport injection will target a specific muscle area and block the nerve impulse which controls the muscles’ contractions for a limited time. As a result, the relaxed muscles produce less movement. This, in its turn, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How Long Do Botox and Dysport Results Last?
Botox and Dysport offer results that last for a limited time. As nerve impulses start reaching the muscle area once again, the muscle starts contracting again, which results in the reappearance of lines. A skilled injector should be able to keep the wrinkle-free appearance with the help of periodic Botox or Dysport injection sessions roughly 3-6 months apart.
