5 Easy and Affordable Bachelorette Party Ideas

bachelorette party in all yellow at The Freehand DTLA rooftop pool party

I recently threw my friend Jessica Jay (who does my gorgeous eyelash extensions) a bachelorette pool party and wanted to share some ideas! Jessica is an amazingly kind and thoughtful friend and knew her friends are not rich (yet) so it was super important that the party was not only really fun, but reasonable affordable too. We had her bachelorette party at the Freehand Downtown LA rooftop pool and hotel room.

I’ve also helped prep for a Vegas Bachelorette Party, a Bachelorette Party on a Catamaran in Nicaragua, and a Tropical Bridal Shower if you need even more party planning ideas be sure to check those out!.

1. Photo Book for the Bride

I had seen my friend Anna of A Lilly Love Affair post about Google photobooks around the holidays and thought it looked like such a great personalized gift. The bride told us our presence was her present but this is a really special gift that’s under $25.

How to Make it

I asked all of the girls to send all of the photos they had of themselves with the bride and compiled the book. Even if the old photos don’t have great quality I say include them anyway because the memories alone are worth it. For the cover a put a photo of the bride and “We love you Jessica Jay!”

I didn’t include captions, but the girls all signed the book during the party. Make sure you have sharpies available!

I got this idea from the bachelorette party I went to in Vegas. One of the girls asked us to send photos ahead of time of us with the bride. She printed them out and hung them all up all over the hotel room before we arrived which was really sweet.

2. Matching or Coordinating Outfits

One bachelorette party tradition is for the bride to wear white and the rest of the girls to wear all black or something on theme. I chose the bride’s favorite color- yellow.

She may or may not have specifically asked for yellow to be somehow included in the party, but everyone wearing it was my idea and she loved it!

For my sister’s bachelorette party we went on a boat ride to a secluded island in Nicaragua and all wore one piece bathing suits with cute sayings on them.

Make sure you tell everyone as early in advance as possible about the dress code and remind them again a week before so they can’t tell you they have nothing to wear.

Temporary Tattoos

I also like these gold “bride” and “bride tribe” temporary tattoos. It’s fun to do them as the girls arrive as a bonding moment.

3. Decorating

I arrived and checked into the hotel room a few hours before Jessica Jay. I had seen on IG Stories that when the Real Housewives go to luxury hotels the staff does personalized decorations and they die over it every time. I figured our bride deserved that super special feeling too.

Flowers

I went to Trader Joe’s and bought a bunch of bouquets of different yellow flowers. I brought a pair of kitchen shears and 2 vases with me to the hotel room. I cut the flower portion off and spread them throughout the room. I took off rose petals and made a heart in the bed. Then I sent a video to the rest of the girls and told them it looked like I was trying to seduce Jessica.

Another way I’ve used flowers to decorate is with flower ice cubes at my sister’s Tropical Bridal Shower.

Balloons

I asked our comedian friend Dana to bring balloons and she went with a huge “69” which was hilarious and perfect. We also had a little “bride” balloon which was cute. They were great for photos in the room, but they wouldn’t let us have them by the pool which was a bummer.

4. Bachelorette Games

Newlyweds – Couple’s Trivia

One of the most fun and interesting games to play is basically a version of Newlyweds. I did this for my sister’s Tropical Bridal Shower too and it was great.

You ask the groom ahead of time to answer about 10 questions. Then you either video tape have typed responses. You ask the bride a question and if she guesses the answer the groom says then she gets to give a shot out to someone. If she gets the answer wrong then she has to take a mini shot herself.

Goddess Cards

Goddess Cards are Oracle Cards and they are awesome for any kind of get together. We used to do them at our meditation night parties (read more about them in my How I Changed My Life post). They’re basically tarot cards, but spoiler alert: all of the cards are positive so it’s nice and happy.

We had every girl ask the cards a question and then pick the card that felt right. It was a nice way to bond and something to do while we waited for the rest of the crew to arrive.

Dance Party

The best part of the party of course is just dying laughing with your girlfriends and having a girls’ dance party in the room after a few cocktails. 10/10 would recommend.

5. Personalization

Spending some time coming up with personal touches for the bride can be inexpensive and can go a long way. Yeah a “Bride Tribe” koozie can be cute, but picking things that are specific to the bride (wearing all yellow, vegan snacks and cupcakes, her favorite flowers, a Newlyweds type game) really go a long way and don’t cost much.

Bachelorette Barbie Doll

One of the girls who couldn’t come dropped off a bottle of champagne with a Barbie doll that she customized to look like the bride- haircut and all! I thought this was adorable and so sweet!

I hope these tips help you with your bachelorette party planning! I really do believe that you don’t have to spend a lot to have an amazing time. A little creativity and some DIY can go along way in making the bride feel super special and loved!
