Sephora VIB Sale Shopping Tips

So how can you make the most of this epic Sephora VIB sale? Here’s what I recommend:

RESTOCK

Your ride or die products. Ah yes, the practical advice. Purchasing products you are going to need to re-stock anyways will save you money on the inevitable purchase. Running out of your favorite foundation, skin care, eyeliner, or perfume? Now is the time to buy!

I’ll be restocking a few of my favorite products like the IT Cosmetics CC Cream

Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil

I use this time to pick up faves like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Eyebrow Pencil ($23).

I may also restock my Shiseido Facial Cotton ($10) which is a bit bougie- but they really do feel amazing and don’t leave any lint behind.

SPLURGE $$

On  expensive products you’ve been dying to try. This is how I got the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (which I have since repurchased and put on my yearly faves twice!).

DRYBAR Winter Waves Bundle ($299, $480 value) if you are a drybar fanatic like I am (serious their products are to die for and the smell? OMG so amazing) then this set might be the perfect splurge for you. It includes a blowdrier, a curling wand, a round brush, 2 Hold Me Hair Clips (which I have and use DAILY), Triple Sec 3-in-1 texturizing spray, Mai Tai Spritzer Sea Salt Spray, Double Standard Cleansing + Conditioning cream (which I did a whole post on), and Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler.

TRY THAT NEW HOT FIRE

This may be a good time to try out the new Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34) which is getting amazing reviews.

Or the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Foundation ($40) – I got a sample of this one and so far I LOVE it, but it does smell like an old lady.

SEOPHORA VALUE SETS

Holiday value sets are generally released in October and the smaller sizes and reasonable prices make these an excellent way to try new skin care and makeup. I love skin care and makeup value sets (especially with minis since I own so much makeup already!!). If you are in the market for a new perfume and already know you like at least one in the Sephora Favorites perfume sets they are a great way to get a full size perfume at a huge discount.

BELIF Holly Jolly Hydration Set ($38, $62 value) – I bought this last year during the VIB sale and was SO SO happy with it. The BELIF The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb is probably the best night time moisturizer I have ever tried. The eye cream was also one of the best I have ever tried!! Buy this for yourself or friend or family member and I promise you will not be disappointed. GET THIS!

SEPHORA FAVORITES Give Me Some Nude Lip ($28) – This kit would be another excellent gift for yourself or a friend or relative. I have tried the Tarte and Kat Von D formulas and they are both excellent and these shades would look great on anyone.

STILA Written in the Stars Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Set ($25, $45 value) – Who doesn’t want to shine like a star for the holiday season and New Years? The Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye shadows are OUTSTANDING and look beautiful all over the lid, in the inner corner of the eye, or under the bottom lash line. Again this is an amazing price point to treat yo self or your makeup loving friend or family member.

HOLIDAY PALETTES

Because your parents may not understand why you need $129 worth of eyeshadow…

Natasha Denona Lila Eyeshadow Palette

Now is the time to pick up the super pricey, but insanely gorgeous Natasha Denona Lila Palette ($129).

Pat McGrath Labs Mothership II Sublime Eyeshadow Palette
Pat McGrath Labs Mothership II Sublime Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

Or the new Pat McGrath Labs Mothership II Eyeshadow palette ($125).

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

An eye shadow palette that’s a bit more reasonable and is one of the most highly reviewed palettes on the whole Sephora website is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette ($42). I have heard great things about this one and I’m dying to try it.

The Too Faced Just Peachy Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette ($45) also looks AMAZING!

The new Kat Von D Saint & Sinner Eyeshadow Palette ($62) also looks gorgeous and I love how unique the packaging is. This is great if you love more bold colors and a mix of warm and cool tones.

I’m shocked I still don’t own any of the HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting palettes- this HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Edit – Volume 3 ($80) includes bronzer, blushes, strobing/highlighting powders, and “Ambient Lighting Powders” which give your face lighting effects like being in dim or diffused light.

7 Must Try Products at Sephora

IT Cosmetics CC Cream ($38 for full size or $15 for travel size)- People have raved about this for a while and for some reason I was resistant to trying it, but when I finally caved in I fell in LOVE!! CC Cream is like everything you need in one – Broad spectrum SPF 50, primer, moisturizer, a high pigment full coverage foundation with a natural finish, and it color correctness dark under eye circles, hyper pigmentation, and redness. It also has anti-aging properties so it’s supposed to make your skin healthier with use! I wear this in light typically and in medium when I have a fake tan. I have oily skin, but this will totally work for any skin type and I’d recommend it from everyone from a teenager to my aunt (who I pushed to buy it and she loves it now!!) Cameran Eubanks from Southern Charm is also a huge fan of thisLaneige Water Sleeping Mask ($25)- I learned about this Korean moisturizer from my friend Jenna and have repurchased it several times because the feel of it on your skin is heavenly. It’s a cream/gel consistency that is thick enough to be super moisturizing, but doesn’t feel heavy.

house-of-lashes-adhesive-glue-white

House of Lashes Eyelash Adhesive in White ($9) – Hands down BEST eyelash glue I’ve EVER tried!!! Who has like 10 minutes to wait for DUO Adhesive to get tacky? This stuff dries quickly and is SECURE AF. I prefer the white (dries clear) over the black because if you make a boo-boo and touch it to your eyelid the black one will make a black dot on your eye shadow. This stuff is also awesome because it’s latex-free so your eyes won’t water! Check out my False Lashes for Beginners post for more info!

Benefit Hoola Bronzer ($29 for full size, $15 for mini) – The color of this bronzer is so perfect for fair to medium skin. It looks very natural- no risk of going to Oompa Loompa town. It has a matte finish which means you can use it to contour with as well. I also love it as an eye shadow transition shade or under my bottom lashes for some light definition.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($62 for full size, $42 for mini; I wear shade 4) – I have repurchased this foundation a few times now because I just LOVE it. The finish is beautiful- natural, slightly dewy, but works fine for my oily skin. When you first apply this foundation it will look like eh whatever, but wait a few minutes for it to dry and it will disperse on your face and make you look like an airbrushed goddess. This foundation, the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, and MAC Studio Fix Fluid are my Holy Grail foundations.

CoverFX Mattifying Primer ($38) – This primer has a smooth, silicone-like feel to it and it won’t solely make you matte. The things I love about this primer are that it smooths your skin, it minimizes pores, and it has salicylic acid in it to fight acne! This is great because you want your concealer to cover up a big break out and last all day, but you also don’t want your makeup to make your breakout worse.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ($20) – This is a more recent find, but has already made it’s way to Holy Grail status. It’s basically the most amazing, healing, and moisturizing lip balm/treatment you’ve ever tried. It comes with a mini spatula so you don’t have to get gunk all over your finger (eww) and I keep this by my bed and use it every night. Try this stuff you won’t regret it!!
