What I Bought at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

nordstrom-anniversary-sale-2017

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access is Thursday July 13, 2017 through Thursday July 20, 2017 and then the sale becomes open to the public on Friday July 21, 2017 until August 6, 2017. On August 7, 2017 prices actually go UP because the sale is on items for next season. Also be sure to check out my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017 Recommendations and Wish List too!

I recently read Lessons from Madame Chic: 20 Stylish Secrets I Learned While Living in Paris and I think it inspired me to invest in some higher quality basics that will last a while and actually look nice and more put together.

On to what I bought:

iconBarbara High Waist Super Skinny Jeans in Longevity by Hudson Jeans (Sale $99.90, After Sale $185.00). In the fall I searched high and low for the best pair of higher end black skinny jeans to wear on dates and ended up with the Hudson Jeans Super Skinny Jeans which I LOVE (which I posted about in my Date Night Hair and Outfit With Beauty Plus Salon post)! They are my go-to night time pants and I call them my “fancy pants” because I own about 7 other pairs of black jeans from Forever 21 and TJ Maxx that I wear to work, but these are too good to get boogers on haha. The high waist is forever flattering, they are long enough for my 5’9 self (but not too long!), they suck me in and smooth me out and keep their shape so you can wear them a bunch of times before they need to be washed. I’m hoping this dark denim pair can be added to the rotation of Night Time Fancy Pants. Plus they are almost half off!!

LUSH Raw Edge Side Slit Tee in White (Sale $15.90, After Sale $24) I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect white tee and after my faves Mallory Ervin and Emily Ann Gemma posted about this one, I was #influenced. Again, I’m trying to invest in high quality basics and just love the look of a crisp white tee. PS if you have any recommendations for the best white tee ever, please comment and let me know!! I own tons of LUSH and love the brand, but the quality isn’t outstanding (which is why the price is reasonable), but who knows maybe this shirt will be the one!

iconBarefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite Circle Cardigan in Graphite (Sale $75.90, After Sale $116) Another totally #influenced purchase, this time by Queen Jaclyn Hill who talked a lot about how she lives in these Barefoot Dreams cardigans. I imagined wearing this with my perfect white tee and fancy pants to a casual movie or coffee and maybe it will look slightly more chic than my all Adidas all the time looks (which BTW I still am buying and wearing tons of Adidas a year later)? Also this cardigan gives me like casual chic Oprah vibes like I’m chilling in my Montecito estate with my hand picked veggies just living the life.

The North Face ‘Resolve Plus’ Waterproof Jacket (Sale $69.90, After Sale $99) Every summer when I go to the Carolinas (just got back last week) I hunt for the perfect light rain coat since it is a damn rainforest over there. I’m really hoping this North Face jacket is the one and that the hidden hood in the collar doesn’t look super dorky. If I’m lucky I’ll be able to wear this like 2 times in LA. Side note, I just realized it’s “The North Face” instead of “North Face,” does that sound weird to anyone else?

Zella Live In High Waist Leggings in Black (Sale $35.90, After Sale $54) if you do not own high waisted leggings I have no idea what you are doing with your life. Now that I do yoga and pilates and have had to invest in more workout gear, I can’t imagine wearing something not high waisted since my leggings would totally move around too much! High waisted leggings really make you look super thin too. I purchased 4-5 pairs from Marshall’s (I think the brand is Lagree 90 degrees), but I wanted to try a fancier pair to see if they’re any better. Leggings are also so versatile for travel I can’t live without them.

On to the undergarments. For years I’ve been wearing the Victoria Secret PINK boy shorts with the lace, but it doesn’t take long for the lace to rip and then they look super trashy but I won’t throw them out because I hate doing laundry… I’m on the hunt for some grown up undies that won’t make me look trashy and that will look great both on their own and under clothes so I bought a few new pairs:

iconNordstrom Lingerie Seamless Hipster Panties (Sale $8.90, After Sale $13) these are seamless nylon/spandex/cotton blend and are supposed to have a smooth, no-show fit.

Chantelle Intimates Seamless Hipster Panties in Ultra Nude (Sale $12.90, After Sale: $18) I’m SO intrigued that these panties are somehow one size fits most (sizes 4-16) that I had to try them. These again are seamless and are cotton-lined gusset, whatever that means.

DKNY Hipster Panties in Black (Sale $8.90, After Sale $12) Actually looking at these again I’m not sure they’re realy what I wanted because they’re like everyday briefs without a seamless waist band. Hopefully they’re super comfy and will work out they’re another cotton/nylon/spandex blend. Where can 30 year old young ladies get fancy-ish yet comfortable cotton undergarments? Can someone please tell me?

Betsey Johnson Forever Perfect Convertible Underwire Push-Up Bra in Naked (Sale $29.90, After Sale $46) Another item on the to-buy list was a nude everyday bra. I have had luck with Betsey Johnson bras in the past and I’m hoping this is another winner. I’m hoping this has enough padding to keep things smooth and doesn’t gap in the cups because I’ve had a problem with that lately. Again, if you have any bra recommendations let me know!

What are you all buying during the sale? Let me know in the comments!!

In order to get early access to the sale you must be a Nordstrom card holder. Let me pause here to say that while I do get a commission if you buy something from one of these Nordstrom links (at no extra cost to you!), no one is paying me to write this post or asking me to talk about the sale. I got a Nordstrom debit card about 2ish years ago because Nordstrom is one of the stores I shop at most often so I figured why not rack up some points and get Nordstrom Notes ($20 gift cards to Nordstrom basically) for the money I’m already spending!? You can apply for the debit card online or if you want they have a credit card as well. It’s also possible to get instant approval and start shopping immediately.

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. I was also give these products for free from Beauty Plus Salon, but not in exchange for a review that was all my idea! Read more about what that means and how it works on my Disclosure page.
