If you have dark circles and discoloration around your eyes, you’re going to want to read this. Here’s my secret to using concealer to cover up dark under eyes:
De-Puff Undereyes
I use my Tarte Pack Your Bags 911 Undereye Rescue Patches ($22 for 4 pairs) that I keep in the refrigerator to help reduce any puffiness. You can also go old school and use cold spoons! One of my new faves Mallory Ervin recommended these Tarte patches. You may also remember that Lady Sonja Morgan from Real Housewives of New York dips her whole face in an ice bath to help with puffiness!
Moisturize With Under Eye Cream
My absolute favorite under eye cream is belif Moisturizing eye bomb ($48) It’s a nice gel/cream hybrid consistency so not too thick for day time use or under makeup. It’s pricey, but worth it in my opinion.
Color Correct Dark Under Eye Circles
I apply Tarte Colored Clay CC Undereye Corrector in Light-Medium ($25) under my eyes, on my eyelids, and on any super red 🆘 parts of my face (usually around my nose). I generally apply this using my ring finger and then will blend out with my beautyblender (which BTW is a ride or die, can’t live without it tool for me). A little goes a long way so this product will last you for a while!
Avoid Undereye Concealer Creasing
Tip to avoid creasing concealer: when placing the product under your eye, don’t start in the darkest spot/your tear duct because you want to make the thinnest layer possible of concealer to avoid creasing. I apply it down about an inch next to my nose and then blend the product up.
This concealer is very orange 🍊 which counteracts purple/blue undereye circles. A lot of beauty gurus have videos of them applying super light concealers under the eyes, but if you have dark circles you really need to color correct first or you’ll just make them look light grey 💀.
Foundation to Conceal Dark Circles
One of my all time favorite foundations that I go back to time and time again is the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 4.5 ($64). This shade is slightly orange which again helps hide any discoloration (and don’t worry it’s not orange enough to make you an Oompa Loompa). It’s lightweight and more natural looking than heavy full-coverage matte foundations.
When you first apply it it looks a little… strange. BUT just give it a few minutes and IDK what kind of pigment expanding blurring witchcraft is happening, but it will turn into a flawless, perfect, Demi-matte finish that will work even on oily skin like mine!
Highlighting Under the Eyes With Concealer
I go in with even more concealer under the eyes to brighten and highlight, For my second layer of Concealer I use the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair Neutral ($25) and the hype is real y’all. I will say that as fair as I am, this shade is a little too light for me so I have to go easy on it.

Set Undereye Concealer With Powder
After you’ve blended your concealer well with beauty blender, then dip the already damp with concealer beautyblender into Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Cameo and then bounce on top of the concealer under your eyes to set the concealer. This will help further brighten the concealer and keep it from moving or wearing off.
Nude Eyeliner in the Water Line
Apply a nude liner to your bottom water line to help get rid of redness. I like Tarte Fake Awake Eye Highlighter. This will help make your eyes 👀 look larger and more awake.
Use a Camera With a Beauty Filter
I use my Sony A5100 camera which has a beauty filter that smooths the skin and hides imperfections and automatically color corrects which is the only reason I didn’t need to FaceTune this photo! You can read more about it in Kim Kardashian’s Selfie Secrets.
