Since I’ve already done Lisa Vanderpump (twice for LVP actually) and Erika Jayne aka Erika Girardi I figured the next Real Housewife of Beverly Hills whose beauty secrets we all want to know is obviously Kyle Richards aka Kyle Richards Umansky. I have scoured the internet for any and all interviews with Kyle about her favorite beauty products, makeup, hair care, skin care, etc. and have put them all together for your enjoyment here!
What’s your beauty mantra in five words or less?
“When in doubt, do without!” (source)
Kyle Richards’ Makeup
When asked what Kyle has changed since being on TV she said “I don’t even wear that much for the show. I usually just wear a little mascara and a little liner. When people tell me I look good in a scene, I realize, Oh, that’s when I didn’t have that much makeup on, so maybe I’ll wear a little less of that. And I work out more, because I don’t like seeing myself gain weight on TV.” [source]
Kyle is a huge makeup lover and recently converted her home gym into a closet/dressing room/vanity. [source]
Kyle Richards Lip Gloss and Lipstick
DC: Name the one item of makeup you always wear.
KR: Lip gloss. I am not a big makeup person but when I put on some lip gloss I feel put together. [source]
Just like her fellow Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Erika Jayne and Lisa Vanderpump, Kyle Richards loves a lipgloss and one of her favorites is Trish McEvoy Lip Gloss in Irresistible ($28) [source] Cameran Eubanks from Southern Charm is also a big Trish McEvoy fan.
Kyle says “I use Buxom – it really makes your lips look fuller!” [source] She loves all the colors including Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Tonya ($17). She says they tingle which plumps your lips. [source]
I would bet Kyle uses Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in Alexis ($17) for her go-to peachy-pink nude lips.
I also spotted on her vanity a Dior lip gloss that looks like it might be Dior ‘Addict’ Ultra-Gloss in 363 Nude ($26). Her co-star Erika Jayne loves Dior lip gloss as does Tinsley Mortimer of Real Housewives of New York City.
Kyle Richards’ makeup artist Pamella Brogardi recently posted a behind-the-scenes shot of a RHOBH interview look with Kyle looking pretty in pinks. [source]
Kyle Richards is putting on Tom Ford Lip Color in Spanish Pink ($54) lipstick in the photo above. This gorgeous color would look amazing on anyone!
Who could forget when Kyle Richards wore MAC’s Fashion Revival lipstick on Watch What Happens Live and everyone called in to find out what the color was? [source]
Unfortunately it was limited edition, but a close dupe to this gorgeous deep berry purple would be MAC Lipstick in Rebel ($15).
Kyle Richards has also rocked MAC’s Lipstick in Ruby Woo ($18). I have and love both Russian Red and Ruby Woo they’re so beautiful! Russian Red is more of a True Red while Ruby Woo has slightly orange undertones for more of a bold look! Kyle is also wearing MAC All That Glitters eyeshadow ($17) in this photo. [source]
Kyle Richards Blush Bronzer and Highlighter
Kyle Richard’s blush favorite: The Balm Hot Mama! Blush ($19) – Kyle says every makeup artist she shows this to ends up buying it and I can see why- this looks like a super flattering peachy shade that would look great on just about any skin color [source]. Check out more of my recommendations from theBalm here.
Kyle’s makeup artist Pamela has also used Cle de Peau Beaute Cream blush in #1 Cranberry ($60) to give her a more intense flush for a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills interview look.
Kyle’s daughters are absolutely stunning too!
For Kyle Richard’s highlighted glow makeup artist Pamella Brogardi uses the highlighter Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal ($38).
Another beautiful highlight Kyle’s makeup artist has used on her is from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit which is now sold out, but a similar option is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Glow Kit ($40). Naomie Olindo from Southern Charm is a big fan of this palette.
Kyle Richards Concealer and Foundation
Kyle says it took her a while to come around and finally use a beautyblender ($17) for applying foundation, but now she can’t live without it. She even carries it in her makeup bag for touch ups. [source] Plus her co-star Erika Jayne is a spokeswoman for beautyblender.
Kyle loves the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit ($38) to cover up dark under eye circles and brighten under the eyes. This kit has a creamy concealer and a powder which is great for touch-ups on the go. [source] The orange under tones are perfect for cancelling out blue and purple tones under the eyes. Check out my post on the Best Concealer to Cover Undereye Circles.
Kyle calls the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer ($27) a miracle product! She had to check out what all the fuss was about when she kept seeing it on Instagram. She applies it with her beautyblender. [source]
One of Kyle Richard’s foundation favorites is the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick ($46) [source]. After remembering that Jessie James Decker loves this foundation too I’m wondering why I haven’t tried it yet!
Thierry Pourtoy, one of Kyle’s makeup artists says that Kyle is beautiful without makeup and has great skin, so he goes light on the foundation. He uses Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover foundation on her which is known for high coverage and camera-ready skin, and powder only on the T-Zone [source]. Pamella Brogardi used shades 128+140 on Kyle Richards in the BTS photo above [source].
Kyle Richards Eye Makeup
For this smokey eye interview look on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills makeup artist Pamella Brogardi used MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Fathom’s Deep ($20)
and Lorac ‘Unzipped Gold’ eyeshadow palette ($42). This palette is so gorgeous. The colors would work great from everyday to special events and would be perfect to travel with.
Pamella has used the Stila ‘Perfect Me, Perfect Hue” Palette in Medium/Tan ($39) on Kyle’s interview look as well.
Kyle’s lashes are Red Cherry in #103.
Kyle wore Red Cherry False Eyelashes in Lottie ($3.95) to the Oscars this year.
After noticing that strip lashes can make you look older, Kyle now prefers individuals at the end for a more natural, younger look [source]. I recommend the MAC 30 Lash individuals ($15) which have short, medium, and long lash lengths. Lisa Vanderpump is also a fan of individual false eyelashes.
One surprising beauty product Kyle Richards uses is Vaseline on the tops of her lashes because they get dry from makeup or crying too much. [source] Cynthia Bailey from Real Housewives of Atlanta is a big Vaseline lover as well.
I love that Kyle’s mom told her long hair and eyebrows are her signature look so she shouldn’t mess with them. For her brows, Kyle says she used to go to Anastasia Beverly Hills religiously, but said they just stopped growing back. [source]
Kyle uses Benefit’s Gimme Brow + Volume Eyebrow Gel ($24). This is a tinted brow gel with microfibers that add volume to the brow and help it look defined and filled in. I love this stuff!
Kyle Richards’ Skin Care
She also likes glycolic acid in her skin care (just like Sonja Morgan) which is an exfoliant that helps shed layers of dead skin to make it smoother [source]. Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant ($29) would be a great option to try to get Kyle Richards’ amazing skin.
To prep Kyle’s skin for a full face of flawless makeup, Pamela uses Glamglow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment ($24). Thirstymud uses hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate for a dewy, glowing complexion.
“I never ever use soap on my face,” Kyle said. “I use Dr. Paul Nassif’s exfoliating cleanser ($18). I just use a little bit. But it’s a great cleanser and not too rough. My daughter even steals it from me!” [source]
Kyle Richard’s Facialist
She has also posted on Instagram about getting a 24 karat gold facial.
Kyle Richards’ Hair
Kyle’s secret to having the best hair in Beverly Hills is that she doesn’t use a lot of heat, won’t put tools on highest temperature, and she doesn’t like a lot of product because it dulls shine.
She’s also fanatical about brushing her hair slowly from the bottom up and then brush through. She tells her daughters to stop brushing if you hear that snag sound because hair will break and not come back. [source] I would guess Kyle uses a fancy Mason Pearson hair brush.
“‘I’m always tell my girls, ‘you have to baby your hair.’ I use a paddle brush, and not too much heat or product – that dulls the shine. I don’t blow dry it every day, and I’ll also leave a little bit of conditioner in it sometimes.” [source]
And when she says less is more she means it. “I don’t use hairspray,” she told us. “I don’t wash it every day. When I’m not filming I don’t use a blow dryer at all. I’ll just wash it, and let it dry naturally after I tie it in a knot.” [source]
Kyle Richards has said many times in the past that she uses
Pantene shampoo and conditioner, but recently she swears by sulfate-free shampoo [source].
I would imagine she would use something fancy like the Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo ($49).
Kyle Richards’ hair stylist and one of her current makeup artists is Pamella Brogardi. [source] She uses a 1″ curling rod like the GHD Curve Creative Curl Wand ($199) to get Kyle Richards’ curly hair.
Pamella pins the curl while they cool so the style will last.
Kyle Richards’ Diet and Exercise Secrets
You look phe-nom-en-al! What’s your key to staying fresh-faced and young? “Eating right and exercising — what you put in your body reflects what you look like on the outside.” [source]
Kyle has a full-on fitness schedule with only one day off a week – Soul Cycle twice a week, hiking twice a week and a new rowing class twice a week. “It’s the new spinning,” she says. “I just discovered it. They dim the lights and you really get into it.” [source]
Kyle’s says “I eat almost no sugar,” and she also limits carbs. [source]
Kyle’s ultimate “fountain of youth” product? Good ol’ water. [source]
Kyle Richards’ Perfume
And your favorite nonperfume smell? “I love the smell of Christmas.” [source]
