So I’ve been reading through lots of Reddit posts on r/dating and r/dating_advice to look for some patterns. One that keeps popping up is guys think the only way for them to be more attractive is by working out. Or making more money. Other then that it’s all genetics and they have absolutely no control.
As a woman I’m bombarded with ads of products that will make me more attractive. Advertising tells me there’s billions of ways for me to improve my beauty. I guess men haven’t had that same message their entire lives. So here you go men (all humans really), here’s all the secrets to being more attractive.
Good news, The League posted some data on their blog that I had just been searching for! The League is an “elite” dating app and is basically Tinder for the college educated 30+ crowd with decent pictures and a somewhat witty “About Me.”
After working on my post Is Cuffing Season a Good Time to Meet Someone? I had wondered when the dating apps really peak. I know that dating apps get the most singles logging in and using the app in the first week of January, but I feel like the magic begins before that when everyone is at their parent’s house bored and tired of being single. Here’s what The League’s data has to say:
And since their infographic is tiny, here is the rundown:
Best days to log in and swipe: Dec 11-13
Best days to send a message: Dec 22-24
Best days to exchange phone numbers: Dec 28-30
Best days to go on a date: Jan 4-6
Don’t worry if you missed peak “log in and swipe” time. Sunday nights are when dating apps are the most active so you should be getting matches even if you begin swiping this week. Want to break the ice, but don’t know what to say? Check out my What to Message a Guy on Bumble post (the openers work for messaging any gender!). If The League isn’t available in your city or you just want to try a different app check out these posts: Free Dating Apps, Dating Apps to Try in 2017.
When have you had the most luck on dating apps? Do you find it easier during a certain time of year?I sometimes like to swipe through people when I’m at home in Florida just to see what’s available. Typically it’s a lot of guys holding dead fish or one time there was a guy wrestling an alligator #FloridaMan.
Are you dating someone who is acting like they have zero clue that Valentine’s Day is this weekend? Maybe you’ve only been on a handful of dates and aren’t exclusive yet so you feel like you’re in an awkward limbo state where you don’t know if it’s too early to mention the “V” word. Here’s some excuses you might have told yourself or some well intentioned friends and family members might have hypothesized: Continue reading “If He Ignores Valentine’s Day He Ain’t the One”
I have learned a whole lot about dating in the past few years and now I want to pass along some of that knowledge. What exactly is a “Future Faker” you ask?
Ever meet a guy that seems too good to be true? They’re super into you and go on and on about all of the fabulous things the two of you are going to do in the coming days, months, years, etc.? On the extreme end they may even talk about your wedding, marriage, or future children within the first few dates.
You may think “Finally! I’ve met someone who I’m super into and here they want to spend time together and do all of these awesome things with me!” Ever wonder what it means when a man like that then disappears and you never do any of the stuff they mention? Welp, gather round children and listen closely to this cautionary tale: Continue reading “How to Avoid Being Tricked by Future Fakers While Dating”
So I have a new dating book that I will not shut up about. It has such a cheesy title, but tons of excellent advice and it’s called “You Lost Him at Hello”
The book talks about many things that are in every dating/self-help book (for a reason)- knowing and loving yourself, being confident, looking your best in order to feel confident, becoming a more interesting person (be the person your ideal person would want to date), etc. It also made some good points I had never thought about: Continue reading “My New Favorite Dating Book”
In light of the new Entourage movie I thought I would share a story of something that happened almost exactly 5 years ago on my first trip to LA.
The whole reason why I live in LA is because of my best friend Annabelle. We met in high school and then were living in separate places for a while and at the end of my time in grad school she decided it was time for us to both live in LA. I had never actually been to LA before so she flew me out in June 2010 for my birthday present and we stayed at The Roosevelt Hotel and had quite the adventure.
One of the fun touristy things to do when you’re in LA is to get tickets to be in the audience for a late night show. We decided to get tickets to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on back to back dates because of the guests. The first day the guest was The Situation and I’m not going to get into why we were interested in seeing him in this post since that is a whole other story and the second day the guests were Jeremy Piven, Drake, and Louis CK. FYI if you want good seats at a show like this the secret is to dress up.
The first day we were picked to sit in the front 2 seats and we made friends with someone in the band who got us out of waiting with the crowd the second day and instead we got to wait in the green room with a few of Drake’s entourage who stared at their phones the whole time and we were seated back in the front 2 seats again.
So the follow-up video for my Porn Star Makeup Tutorial with Tasha Reign aka my friend Rachel is finally here! In this video we discuss beauty tips for dating including kissing with lip gloss and how Tasha Reign gets the softest skin in the biz. I had so much fun recording this video with Rachel and I think there will be at least one more part with us discussing Porn Star makeup on set, trends, etc.
With spring break upon us and summer time coming up I thought it was a good time to bring up a very important topic which is using the Tinder app while traveling. This can mean using Tinder while on vacation, Tindering at your parent’s place for the holidays, or even swiping right while on a business trip. So why would you want to meet up with a stranger in a strange town? Well here’s a few reasons to try Tinder while traveling:
