Kim Kardashian’s Selfie Secrets

Ever wonder how Kim Kardashian takes all of her incredible selfies? Wondering why your makeup doesn’t pop in your photos like hers does? I’m here to tell you some of Kim Kardashian’s selfie secrets:

Kim Kardashian Selfie Lighting

You always want to make sure your photos have great lighting. Great lighting comes from natural, indirect sunlight or artificial light that comes from in front of you (not above you because that casts shadows on your face). If you don’t have your own a fancy ring light or want to take good pictures when you are out at night with not a lot of lighting options you can do what Kim Kardashian does and use a Lumee Illuminated Cell Phone Case:

This LuMee case has dim-able lighting that helps light your face from the front instead of potentially washing you out like a flash can. Continue reading “Kim Kardashian’s Selfie Secrets”

Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes

Welcome to the first ever Blushing in Hollywood Book Club post! Today I finished Shonda Rhimes’ Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun, and Be Your Own Person and I really enjoyed it a lot. If you didn’t already know, Shonda Rhimes is the incredibly talented creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away with Murder. She is a serious boss lady that pretty much runs things on TV right now. She’s so much more than that though because she’s really changed the face of television to make it look more like how the world actually looks (instead of adding diversity she likes to refer to it as normalizing) and for her efforts she’s won a GLAAD award, several NAACP Image awards, and a Peabody Award. She’s a pretty impressive person.

DIY Ikea ALEX Vanity

Creating my DIY Ikea ALEX Vanity has seriously added joy into my everyday life. It may sound silly but having this really nice, well lit, comfortable, organized setting where I can spend some Me Time getting ready. When I sit at the vanity I feel super luxurious. It has been a wonderful improvement in the quality of my daily life.

If you’re an avid YouTube Beauty Guru watcher like me you know that the Ikea Alex 5 Drawers are part of the “Basic Beauty Guru Starter Pack.” That’s for good reason, they are amazing for storing makeup! And affordable.

This post will show you how do you put together the Ikea ALEX vanity with a step-by-step guide as well as information on other alternative vanity options and accessories. I spent a ton of time researching my set up before finally pulling the trigger and making the purchase.  Now I get to share my findings with you all!

Zenni Glasses Review

Soo my childhood dreams came true and my vision is finally at the point where I need reading glasses! I seriously faked an eye exam when I was 10 years old because I wanted glasses so badly. I managed to fake one worse than the other and they told me I needed to wear a patch. I said no thank you I don’t need a pirate patch I’ll just take the glasses, thanks! My mom told me she knew I didn’t need the glasses and that I was lying, but she got me a pair anyway because I was so committed to my lie. I wore them for one day (the first day of 5th grade), got a terrible headache, and never wore them again. My prescription is +0.75 in both eyes which is so weak they don’t even sell them at most drug stores. I originally thought I was just getting makeup and/or oil cleansers in my eyes and that was what was making my vision blurry.. so if you’re like me and thinking this is the problem definitely get your vision checked out because you may need an adorable new accessory oops I mean prescriptive eyewear like me! If He Ignores Valentine’s Day He Ain’t the One

Are you dating someone who is acting like they have zero clue that Valentine’s Day is this weekend? Maybe you’ve only been on a handful of dates and aren’t exclusive yet so you feel like you’re in an awkward limbo state where you don’t know if it’s too early to mention the “V” word. Here’s some excuses you might have told yourself or some well intentioned friends and family members might have hypothesized: Continue reading “If He Ignores Valentine’s Day He Ain’t the One”

Walking Around Paris Diaries – Visiting Tuileries Garden, Eiffel Tower, and Champs Elysees

So we left off at the Louvre and let me start this post with my #1 tip I learned about traveling in Europe:

Travel Tip: Walk to as many places as humanely possible when it’s not raining because you never know when it will rain (or stop) and when you’ll have the chance to see some thing or place in person again.

Walking Around Paris

It’s so hard when you’re going to a new city to get an idea of just how far away things are from each other so I hope these maps are handy. In Paris, Molly and I hit some of the biggest sites all on day one and by foot! Here’s a map of the places we went:

Traveling in Style – What to Wear to the Airport and What to Pack

Bonjour! Just practicing my French because I’m headed to Paris for the first time ever in a week and a half!! While preparing for my trip I had to take a look at this book I have to see if it had any European travel tips. The book is Classy by Derek Blasberg and in it I learned a few VERY good tips that I still use this day:
