Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards is living the dream – she has a shampoo bowl in her home. This means Kyle doesn’t have to spend 3 hours going out to the salon and getting a blowout. Instead, Kyle Richards’ hair stylist and makeup artist Pamela Brogardi (Instagram @glambypamelab) comes to Kyle and does her hair! I am so jealous of this set up because as a woman we all know washing your hair is the absolute worst. It is such a luxury when someone else does it for you!!Continue reading
Joana Teixeira was sweet enough to write another guest post for us today! For better or for worse, I actually highlight my hair at home (are you gasping? lol). I was inspired by hair legend Jessie James Decker and talked about it in my Jessie James Decker Ombre Blonde Highlights at Home. Highlights = bleach though, which = damage so I asked Joana to help us with the after care to mitigate that damage and here’s what she said (with my comments in italics):
It’s an exciting step to bleach your hair, but keeping it looking (and feeling) great afterwards takes a little work. Bleaching your hair is something that needs careful thought, expert application and a solid aftercare plan. From maintaining color, shine and moisture to lessening the risk of damage, these top 10 tips will help you look after your bleached locks.
Wash your hair less frequently
Bleaching strips your hair of its natural oils and has a drying effect, so the last thing your hair needs afterwards is a lot of shampooing. That’ll just add to the dryness. Wash every three to four days and use a dry shampoo in between if need be.
I’ve been using the Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and my favorite dry shampoo is Batiste. If I’ve worked out and need to shampoo more than every few days I use my Drybar Double Standard cleansing and conditioning foam which I wrote about in this post.

Increase the conditioning
Your hair will be more brittle, so leaving conditioner in after showering can help, especially when it comes to combing and maintaining shine. This is a top tip if you want to know how to get shiny hair and keep it that way after bleaching your locks.

Time for a change of towel
Microfiber towels are gentle on your hair and ideal after bleaching. They’re super absorbent and help dry the hair without making it frizzy.
I’ve been using the Aquis Hair Towel ever since I learned about this tip!
Pat don’t rub
It’s not just the towel you’re using but the way you’re using it that counts. Pat your hair dry rather than rubbing. It’s a gentler way of doing things and will certainly lessen the risk of damage.
Avoid excessive heat
Straighteners, tongs and hair dryers can cause hair to dry out, and when it’s bleached that can lead to damage. Too much heat can dull the color and shine too. Speaking of shine, if you want to know how to get shiny hair step by step just follow that guide.

Have regular trims
Bleached hair is more susceptible to split ends so regular trims will help keep it healthy.
Weekly Deep Condition
Using a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask once every week or two weeks will help your hair maintain moisture.
Use hair oil
A quality hair oil is vital when it comes to looking after your new look. They can be pricey but you only need a few drops to keep your hair healthy so it’s well worth the investment.
My fave is Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil.
Protect from UV rays
Just like heat styling products, UV rays from the sun can cause damage. When you’re out and about make sure your hair is shaded and look for hair care products that contain sun-blocking properties.
I love a good baseball hat to protect my hair and skin from the sun!
Touch up roots
Your chosen color will start to change over time due to heat that’s emitted from the scalp, and the hair that’s closest to the scalp will dull quickest. Therefore it’s a good plan to touch up your roots regularly, but there’s no need to re-bleach everything as that could cause more damage.

Hey everyone- We have another guest post by Joana Teixeira today- hair care tips for busy mornings! TG Joana is coming through with the tips!! I love the leave-in conditioner tip, I’m so curious to try it!!
As much as we’d all love to sit around each morning drinking fresh coffee, eating avocado toast and endlessly styling our hair, most of the time that just isn’t possible. Mornings tend to be a rush of putting on our clothes and finding something for breakfast before heading out the door as soon as we can. Since I’ve already done Lisa Vanderpump (twice for LVP actually), Erika Jayne aka Erika Girardi, and Lisa Rinna I figured the next Real Housewife of Beverly Hills whose beauty secrets we all want to know is obviously Kyle Richards aka Kyle Richards Umansky. I have scoured the internet for any and all interviews with Kyle about her favorite beauty products, makeup, hair care, skin care, etc. and have put them all together for your enjoyment here!

Last Saturday I went to BeautyConLA and holy crap it was overwhelming. Since 99.9% of the population doesn’t understand what a beauty convention is or why one would exist, let me explain. According to the website “BEAUTYCON IS A FASHION AND BEAUTY COMMUNITY + CONFERENCE FOR THE INTERNET’S MOST INFLUENTIAL BEAUTY AND FASHION ICONS AND THEIR EVER-GROWING NUMBER OF FANS. BEAUTYCON HAS ALREADY TAKEN OVER LA, LONDON + NEW YORK AND NOW, WE’RE HEADING BACK HOME, TO BEAUTIFUL LOS ANGELES! #BEAUTYCONLA” It consisted of a bunch of booths for makeup, hair, and skincare (mostly) products, and had panels of internet/youtube/instagram famous beauty gurus and the like as well as some quickie classes/makeup demonstrations. I had actually planned on seeing some of the panels, but it was so insanely busy and confusing in the convention I never actually made it into one.
