My Eyelash Extensions FAQs Tips and Tricks

My friend Jessica Jay (@msjessicajay on Instagram) has been doing my eyelash extensions for a few months and I love them so much! Here’s some

Eyelash Extension Basics

Your typical basic “Falsies”/Fake Lashes/Fake Eyelashes come in either a strip, individual, or in clusters and are glued along the lash line to make eyelashes appear more thicker, fuller, and/or longer. They only last 1 day and must be removed before bedtime. You can sometimes re-use them up to 30 times. Check out my post False Lashes for Beginners for more info.

Eyelash extensions on the other hand involve gluing special false individual eyelashes to the natural lashes. A strong adhesive is used to make the lashes last 2-4 weeks.

I was initially afraid they’d look strange since I have blonde eyelashes, but the extensions completely cover my natural lash so this is not an issue.

They did not make all of my eyelashes fall out, that being said @msjessicajay trained me well and I try to be VERY careful about them (see below). It’s also important to go to someone who is very good at what they do and who doesn’t use too heavy of a lash.

Some people do DIY eyelash extensions at home, but you have to have a steady hand, lots of time, and tons of patience. Check out my post on DIY Lash Extensions.

They are perfect for a bride/wedding and I made my sister (@hannahcburn) get hers done before her big day. I think they look better and more natural in pics than strip lashes. Don’t they look fabulous? Continue reading “My Eyelash Extensions FAQs Tips and Tricks”

Cynthia Bailey’s Beauty Secrets

Ms. Cynthia Bailey the supermodel entrepreneur on Real Housewives of Atlanta just turned 50. Fifty years old ladies and gentleman! She looks absolutely incredible so I just HAD to do some research and find out what her beauty secrets are. I’ve even seen Cynthia in passing at the Grove in Los Angeles and she was absolutely stunning just like a supermodel should be.

“The thing that modeling has taught me about beauty is that it’s really individual. I work with so many different types of beauties, as a model. It’s not so much traditional. It’s about working with what you have and owning it. Confidence is so much of a part of being beautiful. I’ve met so many women who weren’t model-beautiful. Their confidence and everything about them is so beautiful to me.” – Cynthia Bailey (Source)

Kyle Richards’ Beauty Secrets

Since I’ve already done Lisa Vanderpump (twice for LVP actually), Erika Jayne aka Erika Girardi, and Lisa Rinna I figured the next Real Housewife of Beverly Hills whose beauty secrets we all want to know is obviously Kyle Richards aka Kyle Richards Umansky. I have scoured the internet for any and all interviews with Kyle about her favorite beauty products, makeup, hair care, skin care, etc. and have put them all together for your enjoyment here!

What’s your beauty mantra in five words or less?
“When in doubt, do without!”

Microblading Eyebrows

At this point I think we all know that having good eyebrows is one of the best things you can do for your overall look. Having groomed, filled in eyebrows can help make you look more polished, younger, and can really frame and transform your face. Because of this need for great brows microblading has emerged as a semi-permanent solution to help you say “I woke up like this.” Tattooed eyebrows used to look like a faded sharpie, but we’ve come a long way since then with microblading looking much more natural.

I have been absolutely loving my brows now that I’m getting them threaded ($7) and tinted ($20) at Aruna’s Threading Salon in Hollywood, but I have to go back every 2-3 weeks and the tint lasts maybe 1-2 weeks so microblading may be in my future…

What is Microblading?

Erika Jayne’s Beauty Secrets

We all love Erika Jayne’s over-the-top glam, but I think what’s even more appealing about her is her honesty. I read every interview I could find about Erika Jayne’s beauty routine and she is not sugar coating it for us. She is not afraid to let you know she did not wake up like this.

What do you think makes someone beautiful? Confidence is the base to all beauty.

Fighting Back Against Sun Damage with Anti-Aging Techniques

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post that also contains affiliate links. Read more about what that means and how it works on my Disclosure page.

You might think that skin damage is a natural part of aging, but you’re only partially right. A very small percentage of skin problems is caused by genetics or the general passage of time. What does cause the damage is exposure to damaging elements, like the sun. Obviously, older people have had more sun exposure, which is why you might see more wrinkles, discolored spots, and other skin problems as you age. But the good news is there are lots of anti-aging techniques you can use to fight back against that damage.

Preventing Sun Damage

Of course, the best course of action is to prevent as much sun damage as you can in the first place so that you don’t have to treat the damage later. Even if you think it’s too late and your skin is already damaged, you should still protect it in the future, especially since less sun exposure means less risk of skin cancer.

There are several steps you can take to protect your skin. Wearing sunscreen whenever you go out is the biggest, even if it seems to be cloudy out. Wearing hats and sunglasses can also help a lot. I just bought this rash guard for SPF protection to bring on an upcoming trip where I’ll be outside and in the water a lot:

If it’s hard to remember to put on sunscreen by itself, get yourself a daily moisturizer that contains sunscreen instead. Then you only have to remember to apply one product instead of two. It’s even better if the product you choose contains retinoids, vitamins, and minerals. Those can all help to both repair and prevent skin damage. Here’s a few good ones I recommend:

Reversing Skin Damage with Laser and Light Procedures

If some damage is already done, one great way to reverse it is with laser procedures. Those aesthetic skincare machines can treat many different skin issues caused by sun, chemicals, and other environmental factors. Wrinkles are the most common, but age spots and other blemishes can also be lightened or removed entirely with lasers. So can old scars from things like acne outbreaks. Eyebrow Threading and Tinting

One time when I was about 16 years old I was getting a pedicure at a nail salon when the tech asked me “You want eyebrow?” (as in eyebrow waxing) I told her no thanks to which she replied bluntly, “You need it.” I had no clue how to tweeze my eyebrows so I didn’t do it and here was this woman telling me my brows are a hot mess. Obviously I agreed and have been grooming my brows via waxing, threading, and tweezing ever since. You’re probably familiar with waxing and tweezing, so let’s talk about eyebrow threading.

Eyebrow Threading

Eyebrow threading is similar to eyebrow waxing in that you are removing hairs in order to groom and shape your brows for a more polished look. The person doing the threading uses a string or thread that they double and then twist. The person doing the threading holds the string in both hands and hold the loose end of the string in their teeth to pull it taught. They then roll the twisted part over the eyebrow hairs they are removing which snatches the hairs they are removing by plucking the hair out (similar to tweezers) at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, they can remove several hairs at once. Here’s what it looks like:

Lip Injections, Botox, and Plastic Surgery with Tasha Reign and Spencer Scott

When I first asked my friends if they would talk about their fillers (Juvederm lip injections and Botox) I was worried they might not be comfortable talking about it, but boy was I wrong. Not only did my friends Tasha Reign and Spencer Scott talk in detail about their experiences with fillers, they also spilled all the deets on their plastic surgery as well! I feel like Kylie Jenner has made lip injections so incredibly popular so I thought it would be helpful to let everyone know where my friends get it, how much it costs them, how much it hurts, and what the recovery period is like. Be sure to subscribe to the Blushing in Hollywood Youtube channel so you don’t miss any future videos 🙂 and definitely make sure you watch to the end so you can see our Extra Shady Extras.

Here’s some notes on what the talked about: Continue reading “Lip Injections, Botox, and Plastic Surgery with Tasha Reign and Spencer Scott”
