Today we have an awesome guest post from Kelsey (that’s her in the photo above, isn’t she gorgeous?!)! Kelsey is the editor at LuxAuthority and is trying to balance both her budget and her credit card balance. She likes to live lavish and treat herself when the opportunity allows it. She loves the newest tech, old cars and the smell of rich mahogany and leather bound books as well!
Youthful looking skin is the key to helping you feel more confident. With so many products on the market, finding the ones that are most effective can be a daunting task. Drugstores carry many products for less than $20 that work well. However, skincare regimens that come with a higher price tag could produce better results. Expensive products tend to provide long-term effects and come in a physician-strength formula. A retinol product at a drugstore, for example, will give you the ingredients but at a much lower strength. Here is a list of the top 5 luxury skincare products that are worth the splurge.

New Sephora Products I’ve Been Loving
The Ordinary Buffet Peptide Serum ($18) Edit: No longer available at Sephora.
First Aid Beauty FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum 0.25% Pure Concentrate ($58) – If you want to add 1 skin care product (that’s not an SPF or cleanser) to your routine you HAVE to add retinol! It helps with acne, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin texture, uneven skin tone, loss of elasticity etc. Retin-A is available as a prescription and my dermatologist has been trying to get me on it for forever. The problem is that prescription strength Retin-A can make you peel… for WEEKS. It is an extremely annoying process you have to endure in order to see the benefits (which will take months to truly see) and your makeup looks like absolute garbage during the transition time. When I read about the First Aid Beauty FAB Skin Lab Retinol Serum and about how it is formulated to be extra gentle for sensitive skin I HAD to try it. I’ve eased in per their recommendations using it every other night and topping with a great moisturizer (the Belif Moisture
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow ($18) – This shimmering rose nude color was designed to be universal and it is gorgeous! The formula is amazing too! So many people I know have been loving this gloss.
Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation ($20) – The absolute best powder foundation I have used in a LONG TIME! Makes you look airbrushed!
HUDA Beauty Lip Contour Set in Trendsetter ($25) – This contains a lip liner and 2 liquid lipsticks. A pro makeup artist used this on me and she told me she uses it on everyone because it’s SUPER flattering.
Go-To Products I Re-Purchase
Belif The True Cream Moisture Bomb ($62) – My go to night (and day if I’m traveling and my skin is parched) cream. EXCELLENT moisturizer that sinks into the skin.
Elizabeth & James Nirvana White Dry Shampoo ($28) – My “special occasion” dry shampoo lol. I use Batiste dry shampoo daily, but when I want my hair to smell amazing I use some of this. Warning: it does have a white cast so I do not recommend this for darker hair!!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($64) – I first splurged on this during a VIB spring sale a few years ago and the hype is REAL! After you apply this don’t be quick to judge.. for some reason it takes a few minutes to “settle” and then your skin will be looking amazing.
IT Cosmetics CC Cream ($15) – My go-to daytime foundation! CC Cream has skin care ingredients AND SPF 50 and great coverage!
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ($20) – This heavy duty lip balm goes on my lips every single night before I go to bed. Must have!
New Items I Want to Try
HUDA Beauty Faux Filter Foundation ($40) – I’ve tried a sample of this foundation and found the coverage and the finish to be so amazing! The problem is that a lot of times the shades I want are out of stock when I go to purchase. A must try if you like full coverage.
New Items I’ve Tried That I’m Not Crazy About
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation ($34) – I’m super oily, but this clings so much to any dry patches you have!
Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation ($40) – I find this foundation is so hard to blend!

Real Housewives of New York City is Back
The 10th season of Real Housewives of New York City began last Wednesday and the ladies were coming in HOT! They somehow all have Benjamin Button disease and are aging in reverse! It’s truly incredible! In case you missed them, here are my posts on the beauty secrets of the Real Housewives of New York City:

Season 8 of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiers tomorrow Tuesday December 19, 2017 at 9/8c on Bravo. In celebration of the upcoming season I wanted to do a round up of all of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills blog posts I’ve done before.
This season of RHOBH features Lisa Vanderpump, Erika Girardi aka Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna, and Kyle Richards all of which I have written about, plus Dorit Kemsley is returning. Camille Grammer will be returning full-time as a friend-of the housewives and Adrienne Maloof will return as a guest star.
The newest RHOBH will be Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave. Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is a 38 year old wellness accountability coach for her company LA Workout Junkie. She is singer John Mellencamp’s (“Jack & Diane”, “Hurts So Good”) daughter. John Mellencamp has 5 children from his 3 marriages and Teddi Jo and her sister Justice are from his second marriage to Victoria Granucci.
Teddi is also stunning!
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Ages
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave looked a bit younger than the other Real Housewives of Beverly Hills so I looked up their current ages (you’re welcome):
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave, 36
Dorit Kemsley, 41
Erika Girardi, 46
Kyle Richards, 48
Camille Grammer, 49
Lisa Rinna, 54
Adrienne Maloof, 56
Lisa Vanderpump, 57
Previously the youngest housewife in Beverly Hills was Joyce Giraud at 38 and Teddi is 2 years younger than that.
Teddi Mellencamp Arroyave is married to a business man (Edwin Arroyave) and they have 2 children together plus a third child from Edwin’s previous relationship. I’m sure Teddi being only 36 will go over really well with the ladies of Beverly Hills (lol).

The Best Time of Year to Use a Dating App
Good news, The League posted some data on their blog that I had just been searching for! The League is an “elite” dating app and is basically Tinder for the college educated 30+ crowd with decent pictures and a somewhat witty “About Me.”
After working on my post Is Cuffing Season a Good Time to Meet Someone? I had wondered when the dating apps really peak. I know that dating apps get the most singles logging in and using the app in the first week of January, but I feel like the magic begins before that when everyone is at their parent’s house bored and tired of being single. Here’s what The League’s data has to say:
And since their infographic is tiny, here is the rundown:
- Best days to log in and swipe: Dec 11-13
- Best days to send a message: Dec 22-24
- Best days to exchange phone numbers: Dec 28-30
- Best days to go on a date: Jan 4-6
Don’t worry if you missed peak “log in and swipe” time. Sunday nights are when dating apps are the most active so you should be getting matches even if you begin swiping this week. Want to break the ice, but don’t know what to say? Check out my What to Message a Guy on Bumble post (the openers work for messaging any gender!). If The League isn’t available in your city or you just want to try a different app check out these posts: Free Dating Apps, Dating Apps to Try in 2017.
When have you had the most luck on dating apps? Do you find it easier during a certain time of year? I sometimes like to swipe through people when I’m at home in Florida just to see what’s available. Typically it’s a lot of guys holding dead fish or one time there was a guy wrestling an alligator #FloridaMan.
10 Things You Should Do After Bleaching Your Hair
Joana Teixeira was sweet enough to write another guest post for us today! For better or for worse, I actually highlight my hair at home (are you gasping? lol). I was inspired by hair legend Jessie James Decker and talked about it in my Jessie James Decker Ombre Blonde Highlights at Home. Highlights = bleach though, which = damage so I asked Joana to help us with the after care to mitigate that damage and here’s what she said (with my comments in italics):
